Las Negritas, El Salvador

Initial Training

Due to the rural nature of caserios (villages) in Texistepeque, El Salvador, access to a local health center is quite limited, leading to a high incidence of preventable health diseases among these communities. IHELP plans to train Community Health Workers (CHWs) across each of the six Texistepeque districts. With limited access to public transportation, our CHWs will be able to help provide health education and resources directly to their community. Las Negritas is Project #6 of our Texistepeque Rural Caserios Project.

IHELP traveled to Las Negritas in March 2023 to host an interest meeting and get to know the community. Two trainers then returned to the community in June 2023 to host a 5-day training to certify 13 CHWs in Las Negritas.
