Nueva Esperanza, Honduras

Initial Training

International HELP (IHELP) partnered with Centro Integral de Salud, a government-funded clinic in rural Honduras. Due to the mountainous nature of the region and lack of road infrastructure, many people have barriers to accessing the clinic. In November 2022, IHELP visited the clinic to host an interest meeting and focus group discussion. In August 2023, IHELP implemented a 5-day CHW training in Nueva Esperanza on the most important health topics in the communities. The 21 trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) included people from each of the surrounding mountainous communities.

Training Topics

  • Vital Signs
  • Examining & Caring for a Sick Person
  • Nutrition & Chronic Disease
  • Respiratory Illnesses & Care
  • CPR & First Aid
  • Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene
  • Skin Infections
  • Prenatal & Postnatal Care

Thank you to all who made this training possible with your contributions to these people who give their lives for the good of those most in need. I learned so much about prevention, nutrition, vital signs, first aid emergencies, how to disinfect water, and how to collaborate with my community with what we learned in this training. We met different people where we live, and I desire to continue serving others.
