Mukono, Uganda
Initial Training
In October 2023, International HELP (IHELP) partnered with Hope for Youth in Mukono District, Uganda. Hope for Youth is a primary school that gives children access to education without paying school fees. Hope for Youth recruited local people to participate in the training, including teachers at Hope for Youth, members of Village Health Teams, and more. A total of 25 CHWs from surrounding villages were trained and certified following a 5-day training. Empowered and equipped, the group will grow in knowledge in the upcoming year, and work together to share life-saving health education with community members in their outreach efforts.

I am so humbled for the training you offered us as health workers in Uganda at Hope for Youth. I am professionally trained as a primary teacher but I am glad that I am a Community Health Worker through you [International HELP]. I thank you for the support and donations you are doing to save people’s lives. My favorite topics during the training were vital signs, malaria, and healing with water. This will help me to save people in my community through training them on what they are supposed to do. May God greatly bless you and make ways for you. Great thanks to our trainers for all they did for us.

screen them for danger signs, and walk alongside them as they deliver and care for their newborns.

[The training helped me so much. I used that training, the information, in my community, and I teach mothers how to feed their children. At first, in my community, most of the kids under five [years old] were malnourished. But due to information I used, I helped mothers how to feed their kids. Now the cases of malnourished kids in my community has reduced to zero.
