Garanyemba, Zimbabwe

Initial Training

In 2022 International HELP partnered with Educational Foundation Trust in Gwanda and Garanyemba, Zimbabwe. Garanyemba is a rural community approximately 30 kilometers from Gwanda. The remote nature of the community creates a barrier for people to access healthcare services. IHELP trained and certified a total of 17 Community Health Workers (CHWs) on the most relevant health topics to the community. The CHWs are empowered and equipped to offer health education and basic health services to Garanyemba, to promote health care access to the community.

Training Topics

  • Vital Signs
  • Examining & Caring for a Sick Person
  • HIV/AIDS & STIs
  • Nutrition & Related Illnesses
  • Renal Failure
  • GI Issues
  • Women’s Health
  • Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene
  • Malaria

I would like to give thanks to all who contributed things to us because we did not have some of the materials in our community. Our duty is to keep/use them [safely] and save people’s lives. I promise to help sick people and do give my community health education for them to be alert. Thanks very much. May the living God bless you all.

In the upcoming year, IHELP looks forward to seeing the creative ways in which this group, particularly in this rural area of Zimbabwe, accompanies pregnant women and babies in their community!
