Entebbe, Uganda
Initial Training
In September 2025, International HELP hosted a training for 21 Community Health Workers (CHWs) in partnership with House of Love Fellowship Entebbe. House of Love is a church led by Pastor Isaac Wabomba that brought together a group of CHWs from multiple churches in the region. Within one month of the training, this group has already made a large impact in their communities. For example, a team of CHWs traveled with the district’s Minister of Environmental Health to island communities in Lake Victoria to host health fairs and community outreach. I am currently taking care of a diabetes patient, a young woman of 32 years, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes six months ago. Last week Tuesday, her blood sugar was as high as 17 mmol/L. She was discharged when her sugar was 12 mmol/L. So I advised her to change her diet. I advised her to eat some little matoke, green vegetables, beans, and take plenty of water with exercise. Yesterday, when we checked her sugar level, it had dropped to 7 mmol/L, which is fairly good. Am certain she will be back to normal by end of week. I am glad I am helping such a soul out here!!!
