Yerajerla, India

Initial Training

In partnership with the Ashakiran Organization, International HELP traveled to the very remote village of Yerajerla to train women in the Dalit (“untouchable”) community. The people from this community are often denied the most basic of health services and have no transportation to other options far away. After a 5-day training, these women were so excited and proud of themselves to be able to have the skills and knowledge to help their families and neighbors. By becoming certified Community Health Workers (CHWs), these women gained a new status in their community, the importance of which can’t be understated.

Through the International HELP organization, we learned many things about health. We don’t know much about health, like how to care for our families and our community, how to prevent diseases and protect from harms and dangers. You taught us these things. You came all the way from America to India to teach us these valuable things. You gave us and helped us so much regarding health issues, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The people who support this training program, for them I thank them from the bottom of my heart. We learned many things! Very thanks to you all.
