Hey! I’m Nan, and I am the Program Director here at International HELP.
I knew pretty early on that I wanted to be a nurse. It encompassed so many things I enjoyed – science, learning, helping others. In high school, a passion for missions and global health was ignited after traveling to Brazil. Since then I have gone all over the world to provide medical care and share the truth of God’s word. After working in a hospital for a few years, I started to realize that medical care was less about what would be best for people’s health and well-being in the long term and more about temporarily fixing a continual problem. I realized that I was not actually helping people, which was the whole reason I wanted to be a nurse in the first place! From that point, I went on to pursue my Master’s of Public Health. I was so excited after talking to our Founder, Monterey Starkey, about her desires for making a difference in the health world by helping people make lasting health changes, prevent diseases, and promote community health and development. I knew that it was an amazing way to truly help people all over the world and that I had to be a part of it. I am so thrilled to be a part of all that we are going to do and where God leads us here at International HELP!
