This summer, we’re excited to welcome two outstanding interns to the International HELP team! Coming from different corners of the country and bringing diverse global experiences, Jude and Milla are helping advance our mission of preventing disease through community health education. Get to know them and their work below:
Jude Sleiman
Jude is a recent Master of Public Health graduate from Boston University, specializing in Epidemiology & Biostatistics and Global Health Program Design. Born to a Libyan mother and Lebanese father, she grew up across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, giving her firsthand insight into healthcare challenges across the MENA region. Well-traveled and fluent in Arabic and English, she has explored international healthcare systems and is passionate about developing culturally-sensitive public health interventions that address global health inequities.
This summer, Jude is spearheading the development of our Advanced WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Certification. She is reviewing previous work completed by past interns, researching curriculum content, creating a comprehensive assessment plan, developing training materials and handouts, and outlining an evaluation strategy. In addition, Jude is contributing to grant research and writing to help strengthen our organization’s sustainability.
Milla Berenguer
“Hi all! My name is Milla Berenguer, and I am a rising senior at the University of Washington in Seattle studying Public Health Global Health as a Bachelor of Science. I plan on pursuing an MPH after undergrad to further my education in understanding population-based health. I am from Northern California and love running, being by the water, and playing sports outside. I am super excited to learn more about public health foundations, such as International HELP, and applying what I learn in the classroom to my work!”
Milla’s work this summer is multifaceted, focusing on strengthening our internal systems and external impact. She is assisting our team with updating process documents, including logic models and evaluation surveys, helping with grant research and writing, and collaborating with our team to enhance our partnership and assessment processes. Additionally, she is creating new WASH handouts, infographics, and training resources for Community Health Workers.
We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication, creativity, and passion Jude and Milla bring to International HELP. Their contributions are already making a meaningful impact, and we can’t wait to see how their work continues to shape our programs in the months ahead.
